William Johnston & Company was established in the 1940’s by William Johnston who operated from St Vincent Street, Glasgow. In 1967 he retired and sold the business to the McKnight family. The company grew rapidly and moved to substantially bigger premises in Mauchline Street, Glasgow. Modern machines were purchased and staff numbers steadily increased over the subsequent years.

The Inverness factory was opened in 1973 and also grew quickly, moving from Anderson Street to a newly built unit in Longman Industrial Estate in 1982. Expansion continued and in 1985 an extension was added that doubled the size of the building.

In July 2004 William Johnston & Co (Engineers) Ltd changed name to become William Johnston & Company Limited. and the head office and factory moved to the present location in Thornliebank Industrial Estate.

Over the years we have grown to be one of the largest gasket manufacturers in the U.K. and have distributors in several countries throughout the world. We have been involved with many large projects and experience steady growth in exports. Our staff are some of the most experienced in the industry and both management and workforce are committed to continue the success of the past and build on it for the future.
